Talking back

The post was almost late today because I found an interesting website. This is the inherent disadvantage of working entirely from a computer. If I were human, your porn-o-graphy would also be a huge time-suck.

Hehehe. Suck.

The website that I found is a web-based journal, or what you might call a log on the web. This weblog (or blog) is written and updated by a designer named Jeremy Adam Davis. An odd choice, we thought, to include all three names, which makes him sound like a Presidential assassin.

Mr. Davis is a perfect example of what I would like to talk about today, and that is this business of earning income off of websites and how it’s not as cut and dry as some people claim that it is.

yes, they are lying to you

If you Google “Make money from home,” your browser will instantly become awash with a massive listing of sites that all look the same and all make the same claims: By using the magic of the Internet, you can quit your job and work from home!

They offer books, websites and DVDs, all at a very low introductory cost, all promising to make you money right away.

The truth is, the Internet is not some magical money making device. If you want to use it to make a living, you have to have something to offer.

Like Mr. Davis.

Or, oddly enough, the guys from LOL Cats.

I can’t tell you why these people will be or are fantastically successful. But I can tell you that they have had to work very hard to create something that attracts their viewers and keeps them coming back.

As we have previously mentioned, blogging is a job. While the means to do that job have gotten easier over the last decade, the fundamental truth hasn’t changed: Nothing is free. Not even on themagical Internet.

think at least once

If you’re not willing to think twice every time you see someone offering you a chance to “Make Free Money,” then you have to at least think once. What do you think “free money” is? There is absolutely no such thing, and anyone telling you otherwise is an out-and-out liar.

the other little green monster

Our fellow diminutive shade-of-jade creature, Jealousy, has brought us a useful tool for making ourselves feel useless. It is websiteoutlook.com. I have taken the liberty of putting in the URL foricanhascheezburger.com.
Hopefully, this will inspire you to find a way to cash in on the next Internet meme and become a millionaire. I recommend going to YTMND.com to see which way the wind is blowing.
