I figured it out, actually. My profile was on a memory card, so that it could easily be transported between consoles. Unfortunately, I did not notice that the avatar awards I had been winning were being saved to the memory card, maxing it out and therefore not allowing anything tied to my profile (like achievements) to show up. I moved the profile to the hard drive where there's plenty of space. Stupid problem solved.
